The Crown on your Doorstep

Diana was so taken with the romanticism of this design, the Emanuels were commissioned to design her now iconic wedding dress. We are delighted to have on display Diana’s original wedding dress toile, the last toile Diana tried on before her actual wedding dress. In addition, we have the original black dress which signified to the world Diana was a force to be reckoned with and many more original Diana items. A unique display, not to be missed.

Audrey Hepburn

The Givenchy-designed dress with a sequinned peplum and matching trim at the hem, worn by Hepburn in the mad-cap thriller Charade (1963), came up for auction at Christie’s in 2006. Newbridge Silverware acquired it and was bathed for a time in the limelight that continues to follow Hepburn and her classic chic look.

STYLE ICON

Dianablouse_sc.jpg

When it came to style, Diana’s transformation from the bashful “Sloane Ranger” who earned the epithet “Shy Di”, to the elegant, regal woman whose confident appearance at official engagements made her the most-photographed women in the world, was almost Cinderella-esque. Princess Diana’s India dress, engagement blouse and “Revenge Dress” are all on permanent display at Newbridge Silverware’s Museum of Style Icons.

Introverted, sensitive, shy and polite… not generally words you would associate with a rock star, yet this is just how people described Kurt Cobain after meeting him. Even if he didn’t know it, Kurt was a visionary – an artistic genius who inspired so many and, on the surface, he was the quintessential rock star.  Watching videos of Nirvana’s live performances or interviews, it’s easy to forget that behind the rock star was a sensitive, shy and polite man. ‘Growing Up Kurt Cobain’ featured a personal collection of never-before-seen intimate items.

Other past exhibitions included The Little Black Dress, The Fashion of Sharon Tate, Supermodels & Playboy and many more….
